Ada CX alternatives: which AI support agent to pick, and how to switch
Eight destinations, one per reason to leave, and a seven-step exit plan.
The short answer: Intercom Fin for the closest swap, at a public $0.99 per outcome; Zendesk if Zendesk is already your help desk; Freshdesk for help desk plus AI on a predictable budget; Agentforce if your service runs on Salesforce; Crisp for flat EU-hosted pricing; Tidio to start free; Gorgias for Shopify; Botpress to build your own. One thing first: Ada's configuration exports, but your playbooks import nowhere. You rebuild them. We compared these eight tools and checked their public prices in 2026.
A few links here are affiliate links, Tidio's for one. They have no say in which tools replace Ada or in what order. The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why teams leave Ada, and what holds them back
Ada has real strengths: 60 languages, answers generated natively in the customer's language, and more than 350 global enterprise customers by its own count. User reviews of the product are mostly positive. Departures come from price, setup time and dependence on other tools. Six reasons keep coming up.
You only see the price after the demo
Ada's pricing page lists no plan and no number. You leave your details, sales replies within a business day, and the price depends on volume. No cold comparison, no self-serve trial: you commit before seeing the agent on your own conversations.
Built for enterprise budgets
Ada pitches itself as the choice of 350+ global enterprises. For a mid-size team that's often too much. On support forums, former users call the bill heavy and tell mid-size teams to stick with their help desk's native AI.
Setup turns into a project
Several user reviews describe implementation as long and time-consuming. Playbooks (the flows that let the agent act: refunds, order edits) are powerful, but customizing them at scale gets complex. You often need someone dedicated to keep them current.
Help desk dependence
Ada sits on top of your help desk, it doesn't replace it, so you pay for two tools. Some users report the Zendesk integration required Zendesk's Enterprise plan. Adding a channel is described as complex and resource-heavy.
Answers capped by your help center
An AI agent only knows what you give it. Users note the agent stayed limited to what the official help center said. True of every vendor, but at Ada's price the letdown hurts more.
Customers hunting for a human
The most common complaint about AI agents applies here too: end customers struggle to reach a person. Ada's own marketing claims a 77% automated resolution rate. The rest, the conversations that don't resolve, shapes what your customers remember.
You're leaving Ada because… go to…
The right alternative depends on what's pushing you out, and on the help desk you already run. Usually one line fits.

Ada alternatives, tool by tool
For each tool: why switch, who it's for, the catch, how to migrate from Ada, and what it costs. Prices are the vendors' own in 2026. Ada publishes none, so the comparison runs on billing units. Decagon and Sierra also come up as Ada rivals: both are quote-only and aimed at large enterprises, so we left them out of this list of public prices. For a wider view, see our rankings of AI agents for customer support and live chat for customer support.
The tools
Intercom Fin: the closest swap, with a public per-resolution price
Closest swapWhy switch to Intercom Fin. Fin does the same job as Ada: an AI agent that answers customers on its own, in chat and by email. The difference shows up on the pricing page. Fin costs $0.99 per outcome (a resolved conversation), on every plan, and you can model your bill before talking to sales. Ada shows no price at all: you fill in a demo form and wait.
Who it's for. Support teams of 3 to 100 agents who want a mature AI agent without a procurement cycle. Especially teams that don't want to change help desks: Fin plugs into Zendesk or Salesforce with no Intercom seat fees, against a minimum monthly commitment (Intercom's example is 50 outcomes).
Who it's not for. A small store with 30 questions a month: seats plus AI add up fast at that volume.
The catch. Per-outcome pricing is clear, but it moves with your traffic. A holiday rush can double the AI line on your invoice. If you take the Intercom help desk too, seats run $19 per seat per month on Essential for new customers ($29 list), $85 on Advanced and $132 on Expert, with at least one full seat.
How to migrate from Ada. Start the 14-day trial, no credit card. Point Fin at your help center and let it answer on one channel, say email, while Ada keeps chat. Compare both over the same weeks. Ada playbooks don't import anywhere: rewrite them as Fin procedures, starting with your ten highest-volume intents. Our page on switching from Intercom shows its weak spots too.
- AI price
- $0.99 per outcome
- Seats
- from $19/mo (new customers)
- Trial
- 14 days, no card
- Catch
- bill tracks your volume
Zendesk AI agents: if your help desk is already Zendesk
Already on ZendeskWhy switch to Zendesk. Plenty of teams run Ada on top of Zendesk, which means two contracts for one ticket queue. Some Ada users report that the Zendesk integration required Zendesk's Enterprise plan. If Zendesk is already your help desk, its native AI agents remove a vendor, a connector and an invoice.
Who it's for. Teams already on Zendesk who want one console for humans and AI.
Who it's not for. Teams without Zendesk: you'd be buying a full help desk to get an AI agent.
The catch. Included automated resolutions are thin: 5 per agent per month on Suite Team, 10 on Suite Professional. Past that, each resolution costs $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go. Suite Team is $55 per agent per month billed annually ($69 monthly), Suite Professional $115 ($149 monthly). Our Zendesk review scores it 3.6 out of 5, mostly because of how add-ons stack up.
How to migrate from Ada. The shortest migration on this page: your tickets, macros and help center already live in Zendesk. Turn off the Ada widget, turn on Zendesk's AI agent on the same channel, and rebuild your most-used Ada answers. Do it inside the 14-day Suite Professional trial.
- Price
- Suite Team $55/agent/mo (annual)
- AI
- $1.50 to $2.00 per resolution
- Trial
- 14 days
- Catch
- 5 to 10 resolutions included/agent
Freshdesk Freddy AI Agent: help desk plus AI at list prices
Help desk + AIWhy switch to Freshdesk. Freshdesk sells a full help desk at a lower per-agent price than Zendesk, and Freddy AI Agent is sold in session packs. Everything is on the page: Growth $19, Pro $55, Enterprise $89 per agent per month, billed annually. You can build a yearly budget without waiting on a quote.
Who it's for. Teams of 5 to 50 agents replacing Ada and their help desk in one move, with a predictable budget.
Who it's not for. Teams that rely on the depth of Ada's playbooks: Freddy is easier to set up, and shallower.
The catch. The billing unit is the session. Freshworks gives 500 sessions once per account, then charges $49 per 100 sessions. On email a session lasts 72 hours: three messages in two days count once, a reply on day four opens a new one.
How to migrate from Ada. Take the 14-day Enterprise trial and use the free 500 sessions as a test bench. Import your help articles first, since Freddy answers from them. See also our Freshdesk switching guide.
- Price
- Growth $19/agent/mo (annual)
- AI
- $49 per 100 sessions
- Free
- 500 sessions, once
- Catch
- 72-hour email session
Salesforce Agentforce: for teams that live in Salesforce
Salesforce shopsWhy switch to Agentforce. If your service team runs on Service Cloud, Agentforce reads customer records, orders and cases directly, with no connector to maintain. Ada has to go through an integration to reach the same data.
Who it's for. Large teams already under a Salesforce contract, with an in-house admin.
Who it's not for. A mid-size company without Salesforce: the entry cost and setup far exceed the need.
The catch. Three pricing models coexist. The simple one is $2 per conversation. Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000 credits, and each agent action uses 20 credits ($0.10 per action). A per-user add-on runs $125 per user per month. Pick the unit that fits your volume, not the one sales leads with.
How to migrate from Ada. List the API calls your Ada playbooks make into Salesforce: those become Agentforce actions. Our Salesforce alternatives guide shows the other side if you're wary of deeper lock-in.
- Price
- $2 per conversation
- Alternative
- $500 per 100,000 credits
- Best for
- Service Cloud customers
- Catch
- three pricing models
Crisp: flat price per workspace, EU-hosted
Flat pricingWhy switch to Crisp. Crisp bills per workspace, not per agent, and keeps its data in the EU. Plans: Mini $45 a month (4 seats), Essentials $95 (10 seats), Plus $295 (20 seats). Each paid plan includes credits for its AI, Hugo, worth roughly 90, 450 and 1,350 automated conversations a month. For a team that found Ada oversized, it's the biggest price gap on this page.
Who it's for. Teams of 2 to 20 people, especially selling into Europe. Our Crisp review scores it 4.2 out of 5.
Who it's not for. Enterprise volumes: the included AI credits won't stretch to hundreds of thousands of conversations.
The catch. The price staircase. Agent five moves you from $45 to $95, agent eleven from $95 to $295. The free plan (2 seats) has no AI credits. Nonprofits and students get 50% off.
How to migrate from Ada. Feed your help center to Hugo, then compare its answers with Ada's on your 50 most frequent questions. For a head-to-head, read Crisp vs Tidio.
- Price
- Mini $45/mo (4 seats)
- AI included
- ≈ 90 to 1,350 conversations/mo
- Data
- hosted in the EU
- Catch
- price jumps at agents 5 and 11
Tidio Lyro: start small, for free
Free to startWhy switch to Tidio. Ada is built for enterprise. Tidio is the opposite: a free plan with 50 conversations a month, plus 50 lifetime conversations with its AI agent Lyro. Starter is $24.17 a month billed annually. Lyro on its own starts at $32.50 a month for 50 conversations.
Who it's for. Small businesses and online stores that tried an enterprise AI agent and want something they can install in an afternoon.
Who it's not for. Multi-brand, multi-language teams with heavy integrations.
The catch. Lyro packs are small and the bill climbs in steps as volume grows. Our Tidio review scores it 3.6 out of 5, and our Tidio pricing page breaks down the tiers.
How to migrate from Ada. Put the Tidio widget on one page, train Lyro on your FAQ, and judge it on the free conversations. If you handle thousands of chats a month, price the real tier before moving the whole site.
- Free
- 50 conversations/mo
- Paid
- Starter $24.17/mo (annual)
- AI
- Lyro from $32.50/mo
- Catch
- small AI packs
Gorgias: the AI agent built for Shopify stores
EcommerceWhy switch to Gorgias. In a store, half the questions are about an order: where's my package, can I swap sizes. Gorgias reads store orders, and its AI agent answers with that data. It's billed per automated interaction: $0.90 on annual contracts, $1.00 monthly, $1.50 above your allowance.
Who it's for. Ecommerce brands, Shopify first, that want a help desk and AI built for selling online.
Who it's not for. A SaaS company or a bank: Gorgias earns its keep on order data.
The catch. The help desk is billed per ticket, AI on top. Starter is $10 a month for just 50 tickets, on monthly billing only. Higher plans show two different sets of prices on the official page, so get the written price grid before you sign.
How to migrate from Ada. Connect the store first, then switch on the AI agent for order-tracking questions only. That's where it pays back fastest.
- AI
- $0.90 per interaction (annual)
- Help desk
- Starter $10/mo, 50 tickets
- Best for
- Shopify stores
- Catch
- confirm the price grid
Botpress: build your own agent
Build it yourselfWhy switch to Botpress. Ada sells an agent you configure. Botpress sells a platform to build your own: you control the flows, the calls to your APIs and the language model. The free plan lets you prototype everything before you pay.
Who it's for. Teams with a developer or an integrator who want an agent wired into their back office, without vendor lock-in.
Who it's not for. A support team with no technical profile: you'd swap a vendor for a dev project.
The catch. Included volumes are modest. Plus is $150 a month billed annually for 250 conversations, Team $750 a month for 1,500. And you maintain the agent yourself.
How to migrate from Ada. Export your Ada configuration (see the export step below) and use it as the spec: each playbook becomes a Botpress flow. Build on the free plan, upgrade once one channel is live.
- Free
- yes, to prototype
- Paid
- Plus $150/mo (annual)
- Best for
- teams with a developer
- Catch
- you maintain it
The 8 alternatives side by side
Our default pick: Intercom Fin for most teams, Zendesk if you're on it, Crisp for a small team. The real trap is the billing unit: resolution, conversation, session, interaction. Make sure two numbers count the same thing before you compare them.
| How the AI is billed | Entry price and trial | |
|---|---|---|
| AdaStarting point | Custom quote; Ada favors per-conversation billing | No public price, demo required |
| Intercom FinClosest swap | $0.99 per outcome | Seats from $19/mo (new customers); 14 days, no card |
| ZendeskAlready on Zendesk | 5 to 10 resolutions per agent included, then $1.50 to $2.00 | Suite Team $55/agent/mo annual; 14 days |
| FreshdeskHelp desk + AI | 500 sessions once, then $49 per 100 | Growth $19/agent/mo annual; 14 days |
| AgentforceSalesforce | $2 per conversation, or credits ($0.10 per action) | Add-on at $125/user/mo |
| CrispFlat pricing | Included credits: ≈ 90 to 1,350 conversations/mo | Mini $45/mo (4 seats); free plan without AI |
| TidioFree to start | 50 free Lyro conversations, then from $32.50/mo | Free; Starter $24.17/mo annual |
| GorgiasEcommerce | $0.90 per interaction (annual), $1.00 (monthly) | Starter $10/mo for 50 tickets (monthly only) |
| BotpressBuild it yourself | Conversations included per plan | Free; Plus $150/mo annual |

Leave Ada in seven steps
Swapping AI agents isn't a weekend job. The order protects three things: your contract, answer quality and your customers during the transition.
The steps
Map what your Ada agent actually does
Week 1List every channel (chat, email, voice, social), every active language, every playbook and every integration (help desk, CRM, order system). For each playbook, note the data it pulls and the action it triggers: refund, address change, handoff.
Add monthly volume per intent. Ten intents usually do most of the work. Migrate those first.
- Estimated time
- two to three days
- Risk if rushed
- a forgotten integration
Read your Ada contract before announcing anything
FirstAda sells on custom quotes, so every contract differs. Look for the end date and the non-renewal notice period, what happens to unused volume, and the data return clause. Put the notice deadline in your calendar.
- Risk if rushed
- another year to pay
Export the configuration and knowledge
Week 1Ada lets you export your agent configuration as an archive (.tar.gz) with its snapshot export, and its API is the stable way to pull the rest. Have your Ada admin export it and store it outside the tool. Pull help articles from their source, your help center. Assume conversation history won't import cleanly elsewhere: export what you need for analytics and retention.
- Format
- tar.gz archive + API
- Keep
- outside the tool
Clean the help center before the new AI reads it
Highest payoffModern AI agents answer from your articles. A stale article produces a wrong answer, delivered with confidence. Kill duplicates, update prices and lead times, and write an article for every frequent intent that lacks one. Some Ada users felt the agent was limited to what the official help center said. Same rule everywhere.
- Estimated time
- one to two weeks
- Gain
- higher resolution rate
Run the alternative in parallel on one channel
Weeks 2 to 4Don't flip everything at once. Open the new AI on one channel, or one language, while Ada keeps the rest. Compare over the same weeks: share resolved without a human, handoffs, post-chat satisfaction. Hand-check a sample of "resolved" conversations: an abandoned chat is not a happy customer.
- Estimated time
- two to four weeks
- Metric
- hand-checked resolutions
Fix the human handoff before anything else
CriticalThe top complaint end customers have about AI agents is not reaching a person. Define the words and situations that trigger a handoff (complaint, cancellation, anger) and test them yourself. Make sure the context travels with the handoff.
- Risk if rushed
- stuck customers, bad reviews
Cut over channel by channel, then shut Ada down
Contract endRoll the new AI out channel by channel, starting with the best performer. Remove the Ada widget, routing rules and API tokens. Keep Ada access until the contract ends in case a customer disputes an old answer.
- Estimated time
- one to two weeks
- Remove
- widget, routing, API tokens

What makes an Ada exit go wrong
The same mistakes repeat whenever a team changes AI agents. None is technical: they're process misses, and each one costs you unhappy customers.
Missing the notice date
Quote-based contracts often auto-renew. Find the notice deadline before you even book a demo elsewhere.
Assuming playbooks transfer
Ada's export archive describes your setup, but no competitor imports it. Treat it as a spec and budget time to rewrite flows, biggest first.
Comparing prices that count different things
$0.99 per outcome, $2 per conversation and $49 per 100 sessions don't compare directly. Take a real month: conversations, share resolved without a human, channels. Price each offer on those numbers.
Plugging AI into a stale help center
The new AI will answer confidently from wrong articles. Clean the base before go-live, not after the first complaints.
Trusting the dashboard resolution rate
An abandoned chat can count as resolved. Hand-check a sample every week of the parallel run and track post-chat satisfaction.
Forgetting the rest of the stack
Your AI choice often hinges on the help desk. If you're changing both, see our Zendesk alternatives, our guides to switching from Intercom and from Freshdesk, our Tidio review, and for a head-to-head, Tidio vs Zendesk.
- Ada contract notice date noted
- Inventory of channels, languages, playbooks and integrations
- Ada configuration archive exported and stored
- Useful conversation history exported
- Help center cleaned and filled in
- Alternative running in parallel on one channel
- Resolutions hand-checked weekly
- Human handoff checked, with context
- Ada widget, routing and API tokens removed
Ada CX alternatives: frequently asked questions
What is the best Ada CX alternative?
Intercom Fin for most teams: same job, a public $0.99 per outcome, and it plugs into your current help desk. If you're on Zendesk already, its native AI agents remove a contract. Our ranking of AI agents for customer support goes wider.
How much does Ada cost?
Ada publishes no prices. The pricing page leads to a demo request, with a reply within one business day. The price depends on your conversation volume and channels, and Ada argues for per-conversation rather than per-resolution billing. Bring your monthly volume per channel to the call.
Is Ada worth it for a small team?
Rarely. Ada positions itself as the pick of more than 350 global enterprises, sells on quotes, and needs a real implementation project. A team of 2 to 10 will get there faster with Crisp, Tidio or Freshdesk, which list their prices and go live in days.
Ada vs Intercom Fin: what's the difference?
Both are AI agents for support. Fin publishes its price ($0.99 per outcome) and offers a 14-day trial without a card. Ada is quote-only, with no self-serve trial. Ada covers 60 languages for chat and email, with voice in a subset.
Is there a free Ada alternative?
To start, yes. Tidio gives 50 conversations a month and 50 lifetime Lyro conversations. Botpress has a free plan for prototyping. Crisp's free plan has no AI credits. None of them carries a typical Ada customer's volume: use them to judge answer quality.
Per resolution, conversation, session or interaction: which billing unit is best?
The one that matches your resolution rate. If the AI resolves little, per-resolution (Intercom, Zendesk) protects you. If it resolves a lot, per conversation (Agentforce at $2) or per session (Freshdesk, $49 per 100) can come out cheaper. Run both on a real month of history.
How long does it take to replace Ada?
As an estimate, plan roughly four to eight weeks depending on your volume: one week of inventory and export, one to two of help center cleanup, two to four of parallel running, then cutover. Staying on Zendesk and switching to its AI can be much faster.
What's the best Ada alternative for an online store?
Gorgias on Shopify, since its AI reads orders and costs $0.90 per interaction on annual contracts. Tidio if your volume is modest. See our ranking of AI agents for ecommerce.
