What's the best AI visibility tool in 2026?

Before you pick a tracker, know what it measures: a frequency, not a rank.

Buyers now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI answers which product to buy, and a dozen tools promise to tell you whether your brand comes up. We compared the seven with readable pricing on what actually matters: engines tracked, number of prompts, run frequency and real cost per prompt.

The short answer: Peec AI for most teams, from $95 a month for 50 prompts tracked daily. Semrush or Ahrefs Brand Radar if you already pay for one of those suites. Profound only if you're an enterprise brand with budget for a sales-led quote.

One thing most roundups skip: AI answers change almost every time. A good tracker doesn't hand you a "rank", it gives you a presence rate measured across many runs. More on that below.

How we compared

How we compared and scored

An AI visibility tool sells a measurement, so we started with what it measures: which engines, how many prompts, how often, and at what cost per prompt. We read each vendor's official pricing and help docs, plus user feedback from marketing forums and review sites, with extra weight on the complaints.

Semrush and Ahrefs scores match our published reviews of those suites. Rank doesn't always follow score: Semrush is a great suite, but most of what you pay for has nothing to do with AI tracking.

Not ranked, and why: Otterly.AI is popular with small teams, but we couldn't read its prices on an official vendor page, and we don't rank a tool whose pricing we can't verify. Free one-off graders from HubSpot or Mangools give you a snapshot with no history, so they aren't trackers.

1
Best AI visibility tool for most teams

Peec AI

4.4/5

Peec AI does one job. Every day it runs your prompts through AI assistants and counts how often your brand shows up, where, and next to which competitors. It's the easiest tool on this list to read, and it publishes its pricing, which is rarer than it should be in this category.

Starter is $95 a month for 50 tracked prompts, 3 active models and 4,500 analyzed answers a month. Pro is $245 for 150 prompts, Advanced $495 for 350. Covered engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI. Perplexity and Claude sit in Enterprise, on quote. Tracking runs daily on every plan.

Where it wins: cost per prompt stays easy to follow. On Starter you pay just under $2 per tracked question per month, and you know exactly what you're buying. Review-site ratings are excellent, though the sample is still small.

The catch: Starter runs only 3 models at once, and Perplexity isn't on the self-serve plans. If your buyers live on Perplexity, you'll need Enterprise or another tool.

Tip: pick your 3 active models based on where your buyers ask questions. For most US B2B and ecommerce brands, ChatGPT, AI Overviews and AI Mode cover the bulk of it.

Standout features
  • Public pricing, clear cost per prompt
  • Daily tracking on every plan
  • Naver AI coverage
+Pros
  • ✓Easiest dashboard on the list
  • ✓50 prompts from $95
  • ✓Competitors and cited sources side by side
−Cons
  • ✗Only 3 active models on Starter
  • ✗Perplexity and Claude locked to Enterprise
  • ✗Small review sample so far
Verdict

The best starting point if you want to measure your place in ChatGPT and Google without paying for a full suite. Move up a plan once 50 prompts no longer cover your product lines.

Best if you already pay for an SEO suite

Semrush

4.2/5

Semrush now tracks AI assistants inside its main plans, and it's the shortest path if you already pay for the suite. The SEO plan, $139 a month ($117.33 billed yearly), shows AI performance without a listed prompt quota. Starter, $199 ($165.17 yearly), adds tracking for 50 AI prompts a day plus MCP access. Pro+, $299 ($248.17), raises that to 100 prompts a day, and Advanced, on quote, removes the cap.

You can also buy the AI Visibility Toolkit on its own: $99 a month, no trial, 25 tracked prompts, and $60 a month for 50 more. It tracks Google AI Mode and ChatGPT daily, with a weekly brand performance report.

Where it wins: your keywords, Google rankings and AI mentions live in one place, so a keyword that already converts turns into a prompt worth tracking in a couple of clicks.

The catch: the standalone toolkit has the smallest quota of any tool under $100 (25 prompts), and each extra user starts at $45 a month. If you don't use the rest of the suite, you're overpaying for something Peec AI does better for less.

Standout features
  • SEO suite and AI visibility together
  • 50 prompts a day from Starter
  • MCP access
+Pros
  • ✓One bill for SEO and AI
  • ✓Keyword data to pick your prompts
  • ✓Public, readable pricing
−Cons
  • ✗Standalone toolkit capped at 25 prompts
  • ✗Extra users from $45 a month
  • ✗Pricey if you only need AI tracking
Verdict

The right call if you already pay for Semrush. For AI visibility alone, you can spend less.

Best for market-wide share of voice

Ahrefs Brand Radar

4.2/5

Brand Radar is Ahrefs' AI visibility layer, and it works two ways. The AI visibility index, from $199 a month, sits on a database of prompts Ahrefs already runs: you look up your brand and your competitors without setting anything up. Custom prompts start at $50 a month and come in small numbers with Ahrefs plans (5 on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced).

Platforms: Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Frequency can be daily, weekly or monthly, so you can stretch the same budget across more prompts.

Where it wins: you see the prompts where competitors appear and you don't, including the ones you never thought to track.

The catch: users report that metrics shift retroactively with each index update, which makes month-over-month reporting awkward. Export and freeze your numbers before you present them.

Standout features
  • Pre-built prompt database
  • Daily, weekly or monthly runs
  • Prompts included from Lite
+Pros
  • ✓Market-wide view, not just your list
  • ✓Six AI platforms
  • ✓Inside a tool your SEO team knows
−Cons
  • ✗Metrics recalculated after index updates
  • ✗Only 5 prompts on Lite
  • ✗Full index from $199 on top
Verdict

The best pick for an SEO team that has to report share of voice against the market. Freeze your monthly numbers in an export.

Best for enterprise brands

Profound

3.9/5

Profound is the name you'll see first in most US roundups. Its pricing page shows no numbers: a 7-day free trial with 50 preset prompts on 3 engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews), then Enterprise on quote. There's an agency offer too, also without a listed price.

On Enterprise it tracks up to 9 engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, AI Overviews and Exa. That's the widest coverage on this list.

The catch is cost and transparency. On a marketing forum, one user called it a "$600/mo placebo dashboard", and another mentioned a demo quote around $5,000 a month. Without public pricing, you can't compare until you've sat through a sales call.

Tip: during the trial, run the same prompts in a cheaper tool. If the gap doesn't change a single decision, you have your answer.

Standout features
  • Up to 9 engines on Enterprise
  • DeepSeek and Exa coverage
  • Agency offer
+Pros
  • ✓Widest engine coverage
  • ✓Built for large brands
  • ✓7-day trial
−Cons
  • ✗No public pricing
  • ✗Trial limited to 50 preset prompts
  • ✗Out of reach for small teams
Verdict

Worth a look for enterprise teams that need 9 engines. Everyone else gets most of the value from Peec AI or Semrush.

Best for high prompt volume

Scrunch

4.0/5

Scrunch aims higher than Peec AI. Starter is $300 month to month or $250 a month billed yearly, with 3 users and 350 custom prompts. Growth doubles to 700 prompts for $500 ($417 yearly). The 7-day trial needs no card.

Engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta AI, one of the broadest lineups on an entry plan.

The catch: $250 a month minimum is a lot for a small business still figuring out whether AI visibility matters to it. Some roundups still quote an old 125-prompt plan; the current grid is different.

Standout features
  • 350 prompts from Starter
  • Claude, Perplexity and Meta AI included
  • 7-day trial, no card
+Pros
  • ✓High prompt volume at entry
  • ✓Broad engine lineup
  • ✓3 seats included
−Cons
  • ✗$250 a month minimum
  • ✗Overkill for small teams
  • ✗Outdated plans still quoted elsewhere
Verdict

The right tool once you already have a list of several hundred prompts. Too big for a first step.

Best budget SEO suite with AI tracking

SE Ranking

4.1/5

SE Ranking includes AI visibility tracking in Core ($129 a month, $103.20 yearly) and Growth ($279, $223.20 yearly): 25 prompts a day across 5 engines. The standalone AI visibility add-on starts at $71 a month, with tiers at 75, 200 and 1,000 prompts.

Engines named by the vendor include AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, ChatGPT and Copilot.

Where it wins: entry price. $129 gets you a full SEO suite plus 25 daily AI prompts, where Semrush asks $199 for 50.

The catch: AI reports are thinner than a dedicated tool's, and Core includes a single user.

Standout features
  • 25 daily prompts from Core
  • Add-on from $71
  • Five engines
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest suite entry
  • ✓Tiers from 75 to 1,000 prompts
  • ✓20% off yearly
−Cons
  • ✗Thinner AI reports
  • ✗One user on Core
  • ✗Fewer engines than specialists
Verdict

The best compromise for a freelancer who wants SEO plus a first look at AI visibility for about $130 a month.

Best for client-facing reports

AthenaHQ

3.9/5

AthenaHQ bills in credits: one credit is one analyzed AI answer. Essential is free with 300 credits; Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits and 11 models, with 17% off yearly. Extra credits are billed separately, and their price isn't on the pricing page.

Where it wins: users say the reports make sense to clients without a walkthrough, which matters when you resell tracking.

The catch: setup takes time, and 3,600 credits spread over 11 models works out to roughly 10 daily prompts if you run them everywhere.

Standout features
  • Free plan with 300 credits
  • 11 models on Starter
  • Client-friendly reports
+Pros
  • ✓Free plan to measure your usage
  • ✓Easy reports to share
  • ✓17% off yearly
−Cons
  • ✗Extra credit pricing not published
  • ✗Heavy setup
  • ✗Few daily prompts across 11 models
Verdict

Useful for agencies that resell tracking. Measure your credit burn on the free plan first, and get extra-credit pricing in writing.

What you're really measuring

Three traps most roundups skip

Roundups list tools and entry prices. Almost none explain what the number is worth, or what full tracking actually costs.

AI answers don't have a stable rank

Ask ChatGPT the same question twice and you get a different list of brands. One study ran 12 prompts nearly 3,000 times: the same list came back less than once in 100 runs, in the same order less than once in 1,000. But how often a brand appears across many runs stays steady; some brands showed up in 55% to 77% of answers consistently.

So be wary of a tool that tells you you're "#2 on ChatGPT". What means something is a presence rate across enough runs. Ask vendors how many times they run each prompt, and whether they query the real interface or the model API.

The real price is per prompt, per engine

Entry prices tell you little. Peec AI Starter comes to under $2 per tracked prompt per month on 3 models. Semrush's standalone toolkit is about $4 per prompt ($99 for 25). Then add engine add-ons: several vendors charge extra for Gemini, AI Mode or Claude, and an entry plan can double once you add the engines you need.

Tools disagree with each other

Agencies have noticed that two tools report different numbers for the same brand. That's not necessarily a bug: they ask different prompts, on different engines, a different number of times. Use one tool as a benchmark over time, not a source of truth, and never compare one tool's numbers with another's. Also note that several top-ranking roundups are written by GEO vendors that rank themselves first.

Getting started

Set up AI visibility tracking without wasting budget

Most disappointment comes from month one: the wrong prompts, too many engines, a frequency you don't need.

01

Start from keywords that already convert

Priority

Take the Google queries that already bring in leads or sales and rewrite them as full questions: "what payroll software should a 20-person company use?" rather than "payroll software SMB".

Source
Your converting keywords
02

Cover four intents

Method

Split prompts into discovery, comparison, recommendation and brand questions, and tag them by segment so you can read results by group.

Typical volume
50 to 300 prompts
03

Track the engines your buyers use

Savings

Don't pay for nine engines on principle. ChatGPT plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode cover most US buyers; add Perplexity if your audience is technical.

Core set
ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode
04

Run daily, read weekly and monthly

Big win

Read presence rate and share of voice weekly, and cited sources, sentiment and AI referral traffic monthly. With Ahrefs, moving discovery prompts to weekly stretches the same budget across more questions.

Review
Weekly and monthly
05

Study the cited sources

Action

The useful part isn't knowing you're absent; it's knowing which pages the AI cites instead of you. Those pages show where you need to be: a roundup, a directory, a forum thread, a review site.

Export
Cited domains
06

Cross-check with AI referral traffic

Check

Track visits from ChatGPT and Perplexity in your analytics. Treat the number as a floor, since some of that traffic arrives without a referrer, and use its trend to confirm what your tracker says.

FAQ · 7 questions

AI visibility and GEO · FAQ

  • What is an AI visibility tool?
It's software that runs a set of prompts through AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Overviews on a schedule, then reports how often your brand is mentioned, next to which competitors, and which sources the AI cites.
  • What's the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO aims for a position in Google's results; GEO aims for a mention inside an AI answer. They overlap, since AI answers often draw on well-ranked pages, but SEO tools measure rankings and GEO tools measure how often you're cited.
  • Can I track AI visibility for free?
For a one-off check, yes: free graders from HubSpot or Mangools give you a snapshot. For tracking over time, AthenaHQ has a free plan with 300 credits. You can also run your 10 key prompts by hand each week and log who gets cited in a spreadsheet.
  • How much do AI visibility tools cost?
From $71 to $99 a month for an add-on (SE Ranking, Semrush), $95 for a dedicated entry plan (Peec AI), $250 and up for high-volume tools (Scrunch), and custom quotes for enterprise (Profound). Compare cost per prompt per engine, not entry price.
  • How many prompts should I track?
Between 50 and 300 for most businesses, depending on your catalog. Start small, then add prompts where competitors show up and you don't.
  • Which AI engines should I track?
ChatGPT first, then Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Add Perplexity, Gemini or Claude if your buyers use them; Perplexity and Claude often sit on higher plans.
  • Why do my numbers change every day?
Because AI assistants rarely answer the same way twice. That's normal, and it's why a good tracker reports a presence rate across many runs. Read trends over weeks, never a single day.
